# Setting up your Quest

Configure your Quest headset for teleoperation of your Anvil robots

{% hint style="info" %}
Depending on your order, Anvil may have already configured your Quest headset to be ready for use as received. You only need to follow these instructions if Anvil did not pre-configure the Quest.
{% endhint %}

## Default Meta setup

Follow [Meta's official instructions](https://www.meta.com/help/quest/10004693912934783/) for first-time Quest setup. This includes completing the section "*How to pair your headset with the Meta Horizon app*", which requires creating a Meta account (if you do not have one already).

## Create a developer team

You'll first need to [create a developer team](https://developers.meta.com/horizon/manage/organizations/create/) before you can use the advanced Quest modes and features required for teleoperation. This will require setting up two-factor authentication.

## Enable developer mode

Once your developer team exists, follow [Meta's instructions to enable developer mode](https://developers.meta.com/horizon/documentation/native/android/mobile-device-setup/#enable-developer-mode), using the Meta Horizon mobile app.

{% hint style="info" %}
You only have to complete up to (and including) step 6 in these instructions. The rest of the steps are harmless, but unnecessary.
{% endhint %}

## Pair headset with Devbox

Before you can use your Quest for teleoperation, you'll have to allow access from the Devbox to the headset. This is a one-time setup and Anvil handles most of it for you.

Plug your Quest headset into the Devbox, and then boot it up. When you start the Anvil software stack (see [Starting Robot Operation](/user-guides/starting-robot-operation.md)), look into the headset and you should see a dialog pop-up prompting to allow USB debugging access. Click to allow access, and make sure to click the "Always Allow" option so that this access is permanent:

That's it! Your headset should be ready to go. The actual Quest app required for teleop will be installed automatically when you start operation with your Anvil Devbox, and updates will be delivered automatically this way too.
